Cactus Maps & Sundials

  1. These appear to me as painful stitches in skin, knots tied tightly after a looping of thread....

  2. Hello, dear T. There is something suture-like/skin-like about these, I agree. This became even more evident when looking through the lens of the camera. Interesting how the view through the lens frames things differently, poses new questions? Thinking of you ++, Claire xo

  3. Sundials. I love the thought of time (my mercurial lodger) being told by shadows of cactus spines. They are strange eruptions, far too rooted and tough to tug out with tweezers. The chins of aging gentlewomen. xo

  4. I've had the displeasure of running into one of these when I was a little girl. Camping and pitch black - I swear it jumped out at my leg and latched on. They are so beautiful, though. I still like to touch them lightly. But watch out for the little ones with little spins. Those suckers are hard to get out.
